In the last episode of the podcast, I shared some of my biggest lessons from 2021, and in today’s episode, I’m continuing that on into part two, to share some of my biggest learnings from the year that was.

Hello, and welcome to the Clare Wood Podcast, where myself and incredible guests share about money mindset, financial successes, and how to manage your money in a fun and practical way to create wealth and abundance in both your business and your life. I’m your host, Clare Wood. I’m a business coach and a money mentor. I strongly believe that money has the power to positively change the world. I can’t wait to help you transform your mindset around money, create a love of numbers, and build the business of your dreams so you can live a life of financial freedom, giving, and global impact.

Before we dive into today’s episode, there are two things that I wanted to let you know about. If you’ve been listening to the podcast for a while and been wondering how you can work with me, there are two key ways that you can work with me to kick off your 2022 with a bang. Now, usually my private coaching is fully booked. I don’t even advertise it on my website anymore. But at the time of recording, I do have a two places available for private coaching with me. This is a one-on-one coaching experience where you have two calls with me a month, as well as unlimited voice or Voxer message access to me. This is for business owners who are really striving towards the seven figure mark in revenue. So if you’d like to find out more about that, you can book in a discovery call via the link in the show notes for today’s episode.

The other way that you can work with me is at my 2022 planning retreat, which is happening on the 15th and 16th of January, 2022, at the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, here in Australia. Over these two days, we’ll be creating your goals for the new year; we’ll be setting a budget to make sure that you’re super clear about how to achieve your goals; and we’ll be doing a lot of money mindset work as well as some downtime and connection with other amazing successful business owners. To find out more about the retreat and to book in a call with me to see if it’s a good fit, you can click on the link in the show notes for today’s episode.

The value of consistency in your business marketing

So back to the biggest lessons from 2021. Lesson number four that I wanted to share is that consistency pays. I now have a pretty constant stream of inquiries for people who are wanting to coach with me or join one of my programs, and this has honestly come from consistently showing up. I’ve been sharing episodes of this podcast every week since June, 2019, and I appear almost every day of my life over on Instagram. If you don’t follow me on Instagram, please make sure you do come and connect right now. It’s @clare_wood_coach. Now I am not saying that to have amazing results. You always need to be on or not taking any downtime, but I just want to highlight that there is absolute value in being consistent with your audience in your marketing and delivering value. I’ve witnessed this in my own business and across multiple clients of mine, that consistency really does build trust with your audience when you are consistent in the way that you show up.

Lesson 5 – Resilience is a muscle and the key to success

Lesson number five, resilience is a muscle, and the key to success. And I’ve spoken about this a lot on the podcast before, but failure is part of success. It is not separate to success. In business, shit is going to go wrong, and no matter how nice, caring or giving you are, you are going to have clients at some stage who complain. If you’ve got an audience, you are probably going to have haters on social media. You’re going to experience a whole range of challenges as a business owner. And this is where you get to choose. You get to say, “Yeah, it’s tough, but I’m going to hang in there.” When the shit does hit the fan, the questions you get to ask yourself is, “Am I ready? Am I ready for the next level? And am I learning the lessons here?”

I found sometimes that the same challenges keep rising up again and again, because I’m not learning the lesson. And some of the big ones that I’ve learned in 2021 are to set tighter boundaries; to take more time in the hiring process; to make sure I prioritize looking after myself and my self care; making sure to get all the legal ducks in a row; and taking action quickly rather than waiting until things are perfect. If you are going through a challenging time in business, remember that this is normal, and this is where you get to choose. Resilience is really where you get to flex that muscle and show that you are ready for your next level of growth.

Lesson 6 – Nice guys don’t always finish first – the power of having tough conversations

The next lesson that I want to share with you is that nice guys don’t always finish first. There is so much power in having tough conversations. And to be honest, they are just a part of business life. You’re going to need to have tough conversations with team members, with clients, with peers and with suppliers. And you can have difficult conversations and not be a bitch. But I do see people allowing themselves to be walked over, myself included, because they don’t want to have an uncomfortable conversation. This has happened to me too many times over my business journey, and I’ve seen it happening to too many clients of mine.

So coming into the new year, I am going to be sticking up for me more. And I really want to encourage you to do the same. You can stand up yourself in a kind and loving, yet confident and assertive way, and this definitely work that I’m going to be doing and continuing to support my clients to do, and something I would really love for you to start to do heading into 2022. Remember that as your business grows, you are going to need tough, tough conversations.

Lesson 7 – Anything is possible

The final lesson that I want to share from 2021, is that anything is possible. I know that this isn’t really a new lesson, but this year I have had some incredible breakthroughs in many areas of my life. And more importantly, I’ve witnessed clients of mine to have really big breakthroughs, too. Some of them have had their first million dollar years. They’ve been doubling their sales, tripling their sales, increasing confidence, firing crappy clients that aren’t aligned, working less hours, ending unhappy relationships, starting new relationships. And I just wanted to remind you, if you are listening to this, that you really can achieve anything if you believe that it’s possible for you.

When you think, “That’s not for me,” then that’s what you are creating in your life. And when you start to crack open the window of possibility, that is where you can start to have some major breakthroughs in your life. As I shared at the start, if you are ready to have some major shifts in your business and your life in 2022, there are a few ways that I can help. At the time of recording, I do have two places available for private coaching with me in 2022, and I’m also running an in-person retreat, in which we’ll be doing a whole bunch of planning for 2022. If either of these aren’t a fit, don’t stress, because in 2022, I am launching two new courses which are designed to help you at any stage of your business. These will be under the banner, “The Profit Academy,” which is my new academy that I am launching in the new year to help you create your most profitable business and to help you make more profit, no matter what stage of business you are at.
